Japanese investors remain confident in Thailand

BANGKOK, May 28 (TNA) - A top Thai envoy in Japan says that Japanese investors have remained confident in Thailand, but demanded their continual access to updated information on the prevention of any repeated flooding in the country, in the wake of a massive flooding late last year. Jullapong Thaveesri, the minister-counselor for industrial affairs at the Thai Embassy in Japan, acknowledged Monday that Japanese investors have kept inquiring about Thailand's updated information, including progress on flood prevention and water management projects, and have shown their steady interest in investing in the Thai economy. Jullapong told reporters that Japanese investors have understood that flooding in Thailand late last year was a natural disaster, as Japan has even faced more natural disasters, but the Japanese investors have demanded that the Thai government publicly disseminate updated information on its flood prevention and water management programs. According to the senior envoy, the Thai government has informed the Japanese business operators of Thailand's construction of flood prevention dykes and dredging of local rivers and canals, which have now boosted confidence in the Thai economy among the Japanese investors.
