Carter calls on Obama to pursue diplomatic solution to Iran nuclear issue

TEHRAN,Sept.16(MNA) – Former U.S. president Jimmy Carter called on U.S. President Barack Obama on Tuesday to pursue a diplomatic solution to the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program and to refrain from drawing a “line in the sand” in dealing with the issue, the Times of Israel reported. Carter also said that the United States has “less influence” over Middle Eastern nations and diplomacy in the region than it has had at any time since Israel was established in 1948. “Our country’s government has basically abandoned the effort” for peace in the region, Carter said.
