Tehran To Host Meeting On Syrian National Dialog Sunday

Tehran, Nov 17, IRNA – All parities involved in the Syrian conflicts are to gather in the Iranian capital on November 18 to hold first "national dialog" aimed at ending violence in Syria. The day-long meeting will start by the opening speech of Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi. Over 200 Syrian politicians and representatives from the political parties in that country as well as President Bashar al-Assad's envoys will attend the Tehran meeting. The motto of this "national dialogue" is "No to Violence, Yes to Democracy." The Tehran meeting will urge the influential international and regional bodies and countries to take another step towards resolving the 20-month-long Syrian crisis. The Islamic Republic of Iran has been making great efforts to settle the Syrian crisis through peaceful solutions, holding dialogue in particular. In early August, Iran held a consultative meeting on Syria during which participants from 30 world countries called for a ceasefire and an end to the Syrian violence through diplomatic channels. Tehran has already stressed the need for making political reforms in Syria as well as meeting the demands of the Syrian nation./end
