US VP Calls For Direct Talks With Iran: German Daily

Berlin, Feb 2, IRNA -- US Vice President Joe Biden has offered direct talks with Iran aimed at settling their differences, the daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported Friday. In an interview with the Munich-based paper, Biden urged direct negotiations with Tehran, saying there was time and room to maneuver for direct diplomacy. Biden was scheduled to meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin later in the day before heading to southern Germany for the annual high-profile Munich Security Conference. In his meeting with Merkel, his first official visit to Berlin since assuming office in 2009, Biden was to discuss global issues as well as bilateral ties./end
