Envoy: Syria Crisis Has No Military Solution

Ankara, Feb 20, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Bahman Hosseinpour said Syria crisis has no military solution and if supporters of terrorist groups in Syria took Iranˈs advice, the crisis would not reach this level. Hosseinpour, whose tenure in Turkey ends shortly, in a farewell meeting with Turkish mass media on Tuesday made the remarks. Giving his opinion on Syria crisis, Hosseinpour said it has no military solution and in spite of Iranˈs advice in the past two years, the situation has got harder, but the sole solution to this crisis is holding talks between conflicting sides. He added that Iran and Turkey with the help of Egypt can play a basic role in settling crisis in Syria and consultations have started since several months ago and possibly in the near future there would be trilateral meetings between officials of the three states in this concern. Replying to a question which countries benefit from this situation in Syria, the ambassador said that everybody knows that western countries, the USA and the Zionist regime are taking the most advantages of the issue./end
