Iran Strongly Condemns Bloody Explosions In Iraq

Tehran, May 19, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araghchi on Saturday strongly condemned the bloody bomb explosions in Iraqi cities on Friday which claimed lives of innocent civilians and injured dozens of others. He also expressed condolences to the families of victims. Iraq is going through a very sensitive juncture, he said, adding that the terrorist groups seek to disrupt order and spread insecurity in the country. The explosions aimed to target innocent civilians in religious places such as a mosque, claiming the lives of many people and injuring hundreds of others, he said. These heinous acts are underway to confront tribes and turn political differences into religious ones, he said. There is no doubt that the vigilant Iraqi people and their political wings will disappoint the enemies, he said. The Islamic Republic of Iran as its principled policies back the Iraqi government and people and once again voices its support for the Baghdad government in its struggle with terrorists, he said, adding that Iran is ready to help the Iraqi government maintain its security. Iran believes that forging unity and solidarity among Iraqi people will be vital in their struggles with terrorist groups, he said./end
