Iran-Lebanon Discuss Latest Regional Developments

Beirut, June 9, IRNA – Iranˈs Ambassador to Beirut Ghazanfar Roknabadi conferred on Saturday with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour on issues of mutual interests as well as regional developments.
In the meeting, Adnan Mansour said the enemies seek to trigger sectarian conflicts through deceptive mottoes such as democracy, adding that they have brought mercenaries from various parts of the world to the region to fan the flame of sectarian conflicts.
Roknabadi submitted Mansour a message from Iranˈs Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi in which he congratulated his Lebanese counterpart on the anniversary of resistance victory and liberation of occupied lands in southern Lebanon and invited him to visit Iran for talks on expansion of relations between the two countries.
The Lebanese foreign minister, for his part, thanked for the message and voiced readiness to visit Iran at the earliest opportunity.
Highlighting Iranˈs significant role in regional and global developments, he said there is no doubt that Iranˈs role in resolving regional crisis is of prime importance.
Referring to the sensitive situation in the region, he said another crusade has been waged in the region under religious mottoes by those pursuing their own political ambitions. Now some try to prepare grounds for new confrontation with Islam through political mottoes, he said.
Pointing to recent military success of the Syrian army in Qusayr, Roknabadi said involvement of foreign nationals in the fight against the Syrian government is the best evidence that the Zionist regime is trying to trigger new sedition in the region./end
