Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The "Erdenes Tavantolgoi" company has announced that it will begin export coal this Thursday from the mine's West Tsankhi site.
Opened three years ago, the East Tsankhi field exported one million tons of coal in 2011, and 2.5 million tons--in 2012, and has exported 2.6 million tons so far.
Nowadays, the TT mine is attracting many companies while informal news has been flowing about the economic crisis in Mongolia due to stopping of the Oyu Tolgoi underground mine.
The “Erdenes TT” plans to export 7.5 million tons of coal this year, of which 4.5 million tons will be extracted from the East Tsankhi, and 3-3.5 million tons--from the West Tsankhi site which opened this February. Income from the coal export from the West Tsankhi will be placed in the state budget, and it will give big impetus to the national economy, said Ya.Batsuuri, an executive director of the “Erdenes TT” company in interview to the “Undesnii Shuudan” daily.
According to officials, a half of the coal transportation at the East Tsankhi is being performed by some ten local companies under contracts. They will transport 300 thousand tons of coal each until end of this year from the East Tsankhi site. Moreover, branches of the Chalco company will participate in transporting of the 7.5 million tons of coal.
Coal to be extracted from the East Tsankhi will be supplied to the Chalco company. Apart of this, Mongolia has established a contract with Japan to cooperate in utilizing a technology of dry washing of coal. Accordingly, 2,000 tons of coal will be sent to Japan this month to test this technology. If it turns to be positive, a small-sized plant of the coal dry washing will be erected next year. The project on it has been approved by the Ministry of Mining, and is is expected that a bid will be announced this year and a construction will launch early 2014.
Some 100 new jobs have been created in the TT mine thanks to three-time increase in productions at the “Erdenes TT” company.
