Foreign Minister L.Bold meets high officials

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In frames of the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold Thursday met with Mr Kin Moy, a Deputy Assistant Secretary of the USA for East Asian and Pacific Affairs in New York, USA. Mr Bold underlined that signing of the transparency agreement on trade and investment has contributed to developing the bilateral trade and economic ties and augmenting investments. After this the Foreign Minister met with Mr Vidar Helgesen, the secretary-general of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA). The FM said that, in the last twenty years Mongolia has refined upon elections methods and legal environment, and noted that that Mongolia and the IDEA can collaborate by sharing experiences and by setting up a training center to prepare election observers. Mr Helgsen said the IDEA is ready to train the observers and to implement joint projects on forming a democratic governance at the local government and regional levels, and offered the Mongolian sides vacancies in his IDEA. The same day, the FM met with his counterparts from Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar at a Ministerial Meeting of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue’s (ACD) member-states, and participated in a special conference on proliferation of nuclear weapons.
