Mongolia's position on peacekeeping mission

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A Deputy Permanent Representative of Mongolia to UN G.Battungalag Tuesday took the floor to express the Mongolian Government's position towards UN peacekeeping mission.
She did it at the meeting of Fourth Committee of UN General Assembly session.
Mr Battungalag noted that, since the peacekeeping mission is becoming more and more risky today, all member-countries' participation and efforts are vital.
She also said Mongolia, who wants to make its contribution to the world community's efforts to provide peace and security, has been participating in the missions with some thousand military troops who are serving in six UN-mandated operations, for example, in most challenging Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan and Darfur. Mongolia appreciates its soldiers' duty, she added.
She urged the gathered to undertake all necessary steps such as trainings for peacekeepers, providing them with equipment needed, making a step-by-step preparation.
Troop- and police-contributing countries should be involved in decision-making processes, since they carried ultimate responsibility for a mission's success, and the UN should concern over the staffing of the Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support, and urged the Secretariat to improve representation from those contributing countries, she emphasized.
