Mongolia to cooperate with France in veterinary services

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A cooperation memorandum has been inked by Veterinary organizations of Mongolia and France, during the French Foreign minister's visit to Mongolia on October 25-26. The document has been signed by a Chief of the State Veterinary and Breeding Agency of Mongolia M.Galbadrakh and the French East/West Veterinary Cooperation and Exchange (CEVEO) vice president Dr P.Brouillet. The agreement aims at more stable veterinary cooperation that is to include animal husbandry industry projects in Mongolia, focusing on animal health and animal product standards. A further cooperation will be in a form of trainings for herders and professional vets, where subjects will be discussed such as health of farm animals; safer drug use; control over infectious diseases; food safety. During the trainings, attendees will also share their experiences and learn ways to support public awareness on the matter. CEVEO is a non-profit organization made up mainly of French private veterinary surgeons, which was originally started in the "Rhone-Alpes" area. The organization was set up in 1992 with the support of "Vets without frontiers" and at a request of vet surgeons from several East European countries who had just come out of a totalitarian system of government and who thus found themselves "privatized" from one day to the next. CEVEO has made up of 60 active members, and several hundreds of supporters from all over France. It has signed cooperation agreements with 12 European countries and 2 Asian countries - Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan.
