MONGOLIA EXPRESSES ITS POSITION ON SECURITY COUNCIL REFORM

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Permanent Representative of Mongolia to UN O.Och Thursday took the floor to express the Mongolian Government's position towards the reform of the UN Security Council. It was done during the debates on UN Security Council's report and reform November 7. He appreciated the results of the Council's work and said that a cooperation between troop-contributing countries, the Secretariat, and the Council has some progress but it is needed to strengthen these ties and to increase a participation of the troop-contributing countries in the decision-making level. He went on that Mongolia's position towards the reform in the Council's work is the same as before, and advised to add the number of permanent and non-permanent members, to improve the work methods and to thoroughly focus on a veto power matters. Mr Och also thanked Mr J.Ashe, the chairman of the UN 68th session for his initiatives and efforts, and appealed to the countries to support him.
