M.URANTSETSEG WINS SILVER MEDAL AT TOKYO GRAND SLAM

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ An international master of sports and World champion M.Urantsetseg won a silver medal in the Judo Grand Slam kicked off Friday in Tokyo, Japan. Our judoka competed at the women’s 48 kg weight category contest. She had a bye in the first round, and defeated her opponents from Chinese Taipei, Ukraine and Japan. At the gold medal contest, she was beaten by Ami Kondo, a Japanese judoka. Other Mongolians D.Amartuvshin, G.Boldbaatar (men’s 60 kg), D.Tomorkhuleg (men’s 66 kg), and D.Sumya (women’s 57 kg) did not grab medals. With a prize fund of USD 150 thousand, the Tokyo Grand Slam has brought together 336 judokas from 46 countries, and it will continue until Sunday. Mongolia is being represented at the tournament by 11 judokas.
