Lavrov: Russia-UAE dialogue is major factor of normalization in Middle East

MOSCOW, May 28. /TASS/. Russia wants to strengthen relations with the United Arab Emirates in all spheres, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday before the talks with his UAE counterpart Abdallah bin Zayid Al Nuhayyan. "Our relations of friendship and partnerships are gradually developing. This is a factor in favour normalizing the situation in the Middle East," Lavrov said. "We plan to expand cooperation between the two countries’ foreign ministries, political diaologue, to promote relations in all spheres." The Russian top diplomat said the visit by his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates was a timely one to give an impetus to the implementation of tasks set by the two countries’ leaders. Al Nuhayyan thanked Lavrov for hospitality which "proves the special significance of bilateral relations." "Relations have considerable possibilities to be promoted in politics and the economy," he said. "Today, we also plan to discuss major problems of the Middle East." Read more
