People in Bangkok enjoy test run of new electric train route
BANGKOK, June 13 (TNA) - People are welcome to try an extended electric train service, linking Bangkok's Tao Poon area to Bang Yai on the capital's outskirts.
The June-July test run started at 7am on June 13 at the Khlong Bang Phai Station in Bang Yai District of Bangkok's neighboring Nonthaburi Province, also a location of the railway’s depot near the capital's western outer ring road, while the Tao Poon Station is linked with the Bang Sue Station of the Blue Line.
The commuters who tried the new Purple Line on Monday registered for their free tickets at Khlong Bang Phai, Yaek Nonthaburi 1, and Tao Poon Stations on June 5, with one registered commuter receiving three tickets, each of which is for two passengers who are allowed to board the electric trains between during 7am-9am. A ticket is valid for three days (June 13, 15 and 17).
People who registered for the trial run on June 12 can board the Purple Line trains at the same hours on June 20, 22 and 24 and those who register on June 19 can try the new link on June 27 and 29 and July 1.
The state-run Mass Rapid Transit Authority (MRTA) will inform the people of stations opened for the test run.
The newly-extended 23-kilometer-long Bang Yai-Tao Poon Purple Line has been set to start its commercial service on August 6, with its fares
to range from 14 to 42 baht. (TNA)
