Thai investors invited to invest in Maldives

BANGKOK, September 15 (TNA) - The Republic of Maldives has invited Thai business operators to invest in the island state, especially in basic infrastructure development projects. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who oversees economic affairs, told journalists that the Republic of Maldives' visiting Vice President Abdulla Jihad raised the issue during his meeting with him at Bangkok's Government House on September 14. Somkid pointed out that the Republic of Maldives has been steadily growing and needs infrastructure development projects to cater for the rising number of international tourist arrivals. Somkid said the Republic of Maldives, thus, wants foreign investment projects, especially those from Thailand, which has potential in the development of basic infrastructure, hospitals, shopping and other modern facilities.
