Frost in Thai North now welcomes int'l visitors

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, November 21 (TNA) - The first frost of this year's winter in the Thai North now welcomes throngs of international visitors at Doi Inthanon in the northern resort Chiang Mai Province, as temperatures have kept declining over the past days. While the temperature dropped to three degrees Celsius on Monday morning, international tourists were crowding Doi Inthanon to experience the chilly weather. The international visitors parked their cars along the way to the top of the mountain to take photos of the frost that was covering green grass and leaves with its white colour. The frost on Doi Inthanon came early this winter, compared to last year. Rung Hirunwong, Head of the Doi Inthanon National Park in Chiang Mai's Jomthong District, told reporters that temperatures on Doi Inthanon are now around 4-11 degrees Celsius on average. At the Kew Mae Phan scenic point, Rung said, the temperature was recorded at three degrees Celsius on early Monday morning when international tourists could enjoy the sea of mist. The Meteorological Department forecast, meanwhile, that the winter in Thailand this year should be longer than that of last year. (TNA)
