Varieties of migrating birds spotted in Thai South

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN, THAILAND, October 30 (TNA) - Senior academics say that a large number of migrating birds have been found in the Thai South, including more than 20,000 black baza birds. Dr. Chaiyant Kesorndokbua, a veterinarian and a senior academic who is specialized on hawks and eagles at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kasetsart University, told journalists on October 29 that the large number of migrating birds were spotted at roadside view points in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province in the Upper Thai South last month. Dr. Chaiyant acknowledged that his faculty has joined forces with the state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Prachuap Khiri Khan Office, and the Tambon Chaiyarat Administrative Organization to organize an annual activity on welcoming international visitors to the bird view sites along the main Petchakasem Highway in the Chaiyarat locality in Prachuap Khiri Khan's Bang Saphan District to watch migrating birds from freezing regions during October-November. The senior academic announced that international visitors are welcome to the bird view sites daily from 7am to 11am and from 2pm to 5pm during the two-month period. According to the senior Thai academic, more than 14 varieties of hawks, including the black baza, have been spotted in the area so far this year. (TNA)
