Former IAEA Chief blasts Trump's approach to Iran

Tehran, July 31, IRNA – Former head of United Nations nuclear watchdog criticized US President Donald Trump's approach towards Iran 'You cannot renege on a deal considered by all as a keystone, threaten the country, humiliate its leaders and then impulsively call for talks!' Mohamed ElBradei, former Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said Tuesday on his Twitter account referring to President Trump's withdrawal from Iran Deal in May. Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (the US, France, Britain, China, and Russia) plus Germany signed the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, in 2015. Iran accepted to curb its nuclear program in exchange for economic sanctions relief. Washington has re-imposed the economic sanctions the first set of which will take effect on August 6 to force Iran to come to negotiation table. The US President said Monday he was willing to meet Iran’s president without preconditions, Western media reported. 'Agreements are based on trust, mutual accommodation & respect, not intimidation & threats. DPRK approach is not a model #Iran,' the Egyptian diplomat added in reference to President Trump's approach in dealing with Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
