Iran calls for ending tensions between India, Pakistan

Tehran, Feb 27, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman called for peaceful solution and also ending tensions between India and Pakistan by taking advantage of diplomatic tools regarding vulnerable conditions of the region. Bahram Qasemi once again expressed deep regret over escalation of tensions at borders and the military showdown between India and Pakistan. Iran invites these two important and effective countries in region to consider complicated conditions in the region which is mostly aimed at increasing insecurity, instability and due to foreign intervention. Earlier, Qasemi called on India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and make efforts to de-escalate tensions. Indian media quoted the country’s officials as saying that between 200 and 300 were killed in the Indian airstrikes on an alleged camp of militias across the border between India and Pakistan in the disputed Kashmir region early on Tuesday. Senior Pakistani officials as well as a number of the country's party leaders condemned the attack and said the Pakistani armed forces are ready to deliver a response to any kind of aggression on the country. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to hold an extra-ordinary meeting later today to review the military tension with India, according to Pakistani media.
