Abundant Olive Blossoms Signal Promising Season in Al-Jouf

Al-Jouf, May 2, 2025, SPA -- The olive flowering season commenced in Al-Jouf Region in recent days, with many farmers reporting profuse blooms, raising expectations for a substantial olive harvest from the region's farms and projects this year.
The flowering process begins with bud growth and the formation of dense clusters of small, green fruit pods on the branches.  The buds then open into small white flowers, transforming the olive trees into a display of white blossoms interspersed with their dark green, elongated leaves.
The olive flowering season often coincides with date palm pollination in April, while the olive harvest occurs toward the end of the year.  During the flowering period, proper irrigation, pest control, and fertilization are crucial for optimal fruit development.
Al-Jouf is home to over 23 million olive trees, producing 150,000 tons of table olives annually. The region's approximately 30 olive presses yield 18,000 tons of premium olive oil each year, representing about 67% of the Kingdom's total olive oil production.  Al-Jouf boasts more than 16,000 olive farms and projects.
