Efforts to Utilize Economic Development Levers Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- Cities and counties in North Hamgyong Province of the DPRK are striving to explore and create economic resources and raw and other materials available to them.
Orang County, a coastal area, has newly built over 200 hectares of culture grounds and conducts a large-scale breeding of scallops, mussels and kelp.
Kyongsong County, too, has set up several offshore farms and introduced advanced breeding techniques, paying much effort to sea farming.
Puryong County, a mountainous area, uses its large granite deposits, the natural and geographical features, for the economic development. The county has formed at the modern county daily necessities factory under construction a stone-processing work-team capable of making thousands of stone products every year and is making preparations to produce soon after the factory's completion.
Yonsa County and other regions of the province in the northern highlands of the country are conducting the work to expand the area of pine-nut forests.
Hoeryong City plants and grows white apricot trees, Kyongsong County matrimony vines and Kilju County pear trees as part of the efforts to open up a new path peculiar to the region in foodstuff production by increasing the output of their special products. -0-
