Saudi Arabia to Host 5th Session of OIC Conference of Ministers Responsible for Water in October

Riyadh, July 16, 2025, SPA -- Saudi Arabia will host the fifth session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Conference of Ministers in Charge of Water from October 20 to 22, 2025, in Jeddah. The three-day conference will address water-related challenges and explore proposed solutions to meet the water needs of OIC member states.
The Kingdom officially signed the agreement to host the conference with the OIC General Secretariat today.
Deputy Minister for Water at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Dr. Abdulaziz AlShaibani stated that the Kingdom’s hosting of the conference underscores its pivotal role in supporting water-related issues across the Islamic world and its commitment to strengthening cooperation in sustainable development.
He emphasized that hosting the conference reflects the Kingdom’s continuous support for OIC initiatives, including its vision and implementation plan on water, and its commitment to promoting international collaboration on global water challenges.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has already begun preparations for the event in coordination with the OIC. Organizational and technical requirements have been developed, coordination meetings scheduled, and updates on international water resource developments reviewed.
