Bahrain participates in 11th Arab Space Cooperation Group Meeting and 4th NewSpace Africa Conference

Cairo, July 17 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by aerospace engineer Yousif Al Qattan from the Bahrain Space Agency, took part in the 11th Arab Space Cooperation Group (ASCG) Meeting and the 4th edition of the NewSpace Africa Conference, both held in Cairo, Egypt. The events brought together regional and international stakeholders from the space sector to strengthen cooperation and share innovative strategies.
Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency, emphasised that the participation of young Bahraini talents in international conferences is a key pillar of the agency’s human capital development strategy. He noted that empowering national talent requires creating opportunities for international representation and involvement in knowledge-driven decision-making.
He expressed pride in Al Qattan’s participation, highlighting that such engagements showcase Bahrain’s new generation capable of addressing global challenges and contributing innovative ideas to the vital and strategic space sector. He affirmed the agency’s commitment to enabling national talent to play an active role in the regional and global space ecosystem.
Al Qattan expressed pride in representing Bahrain, thanking the Bahrain Space Agency and the National Space Science and Technology Centre in Abu Dhabi for his nomination. He highlighted the value of learning from African space programmes and youth initiatives, especially through his role as a speaker on the Arab Satellite 813 project.
The Bahrain Space Agency continues to support and develop young national talent by nominating them for international events, conferences, and specialised educational and training programmes, in line with its strategic vision of building a sustainable and integrated national space sector driven by local expertise.
