Iran finishes runner-up at Asian Karate championships with 7 gold medals

Tehran, IRNA – Iran has finished in second place at the Asian Karate Federation (AKF) Cadet, Junior & U-21 championships held in Shaoguan, China.

The Iranian team claimed a total of 22 medals, including seven gold, nine silver, and six bronze.

Gold medals were secured by Yalda Naghibeiranvand (-50 kg), Mehrnegar Ahmadi (-61kg), Hananeh Salehi (+68kg), Ghazal Fathi (-48kg), Setayesh Ghaneifard (-54kg), Setayesh Afshar (+61kg), and Hossein Vafa (-67kg).

Silver medals were awarded to Mohammadjavad Safari (-75 kg), Abolfazl Hamdamjou (-60 kg), Fatemeh-Zahra Saeedabadi (-55 kg), Amir-Reza Mosalman (-61 kg), Mohammad Abdollahi (-61 kg), Aria Yousefi (-68 kg), Miad Shafei (+76kg), Arshia Mohalemimaleki (-63 kg), and Faryar Bahadori (-70 kg).

Additionally, Zahra Rezazadeh (-53 kg), Ava Farmani (-47 kg), Dina Karimi (-61 kg), and Mahan Mirzaei (+84kg) each received a bronze medal in the tournament.

Additionally, both the men’s kata team, consisting of Amirali Mirzazadeh, Matin Farimand, Ata Rafiei, and Amirreza Chamani, as well as the women’s kata team, featuring Dina Safari, Fatemeh Sehatbakhsh, Hananeh Nurullahzadeh, and Kosar Ranjbar, secured bronze medals in the sporting event.

More than 500 young athletes from 30 countries gathered to compete in the three-day event, aiming to take home continental titles and prove themselves as the future stars of the sport.

The AKF Cadet, Junior, and U-21 Karate Championships were held from September 5 to 7, 2025, in Shaoguan, China.
