Share of pensioners in Kyrgyzstan to increase to 11% by 2050 – Social Fund

Bishkek, Sept. 8, 2025 /Kabar/. The share of pensioners in the population structure in Kyrgyzstan will reach 11% in 2040-2050, head of the pension and tariff policy department of the Social Fund, Zhyldyz Kulzhanova told today live on Birinchi Radio.

She noted that this is due to the increase in life expectancy among the population.

“We must be ready for this and financially stable. According to the fertility rate - the indicator of the birth rate of children by one mother, if 4-5 years ago in our country there were more than 3 children per woman, now this indicator is 2.7. Our population is relatively young, the percentage of people over 65 years old is only 5% of the population," she said.
