Citizens request to extend legalization period for vehicles with Russian license plates

Bishkek, Sept. 19, 2025./Kabar/. On September 18, the leader of the Yntymak parliamentary faction, Marlen Mamataliev, met with members of the commission on the legalization of vehicles with foreign license plates located in Kyrgyzstan.
Currently, 13,000 vehicles with foreign license plates have undergone the legalization process.
Ministry of Internal Affairs representative Nurdin Sambayev noted that, starting October 1, in accordance with Resolution No. 168, unlicensed vehicles must be exported from the country or sold for parts and utilized. It was noted that most citizens are requesting an extension of the legalization period for their vehicles and a reduction in the registration fee for vehicles purchased in the Russian Federation.
Experts indicated that the cost of legalizing right-hand drive vehicles is 50,000 soms.
"Left-hand drive vehicles must be returned to the registered country, specifically Russia, deregistered there, and then brought back to Kyrgyzstan." "In this case, the fee will be approximately 13,000 soms," noted Ruslan Tynaliev, a representative of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
Following the meeting, Deputy Marlen Mamataliev noted that he would work with the heads of the relevant government agencies to resolve this issue.
