Foreign Minister participates in GCC-US Foreign Ministers Joint Ministerial meeting

New York, Sep. 25 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the joint ministerial meeting held in New York today between the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the United States of America, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The GCC delegation was headed by Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and Chairman of the current session of the Ministerial Council, while the US delegation was headed by Marco Rubio, Secretary of State.
Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, was present.
The ministers discussed the longstanding ties between the GCC states and the US in various political, security, economic, and development domains, and means to advance cooperation and coordination to more comprehensive levels to serve mutual interests.
The ministers also discussed regional developments, the war in the Gaza Strip, and regional and international efforts aimed at reducing tension and escalation, achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, protecting civilians, releasing hostages and detainees, and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilian population in the Strip.
They also discussed international developments and ways to intensify cooperation and coordination to confront the various challenges that threaten regional and international security and peace.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United States of America; Ambassador Khalid Yousef Al Jalahma, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs; and Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
