Oil Minister meets Executive Secretary of UN Framework Convention on Climate Change

New York, Sept. 26 (BNA): Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, met with Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), on the sidelines of Climate Week 2025.

The meeting focused on Bahrain’s commitment to working closely with the UNFCCC Secretariat in preparation for COP30, with the aim of supporting global efforts to tackle climate change and advance the Sustainable Development Goals. Dr. bin Daina praised the Secretariat’s role in fostering cooperation among member states and in driving collective climate action forward.

Both sides discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in climate-related fields, coordinate on initiatives and programmes to advance the Paris Agreement, and exchange views on accelerating the global transition to a sustainable green economy.
