New York, Sep. 26 (BNA): Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, participated in a high-level meeting at the United Nations in New York marking the 30th anniversary of the World Programme of Action for Youth (WPAY).

The event, held during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80), under the theme “World Programme of Action for Youth at 30: Accelerating Global Progress Through Intergenerational Collaboration.”

In her remarks, the minister emphasised the need for stronger international cooperation to support young people and affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to empowering youth and ensuring their role as central partners in development at both the national and global levels. She noted that this priority reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government’s agenda, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which has made youth empowerment a cornerstone of Bahrain’s national strategy.

She highlighted Bahrain’s youth-focused policies, which prioritise participation, skills development, civic engagement and innovation. Among the country’s leading initiatives, she pointed to The King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award to Achieve the SDGs, and the “Hope” Network launched in 2024 by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS).

The minister also added that “Hope” now brings together 42 youth organisations, government agencies and international partners to exchange best practices, support collaborative projects and provide a dynamic platform for dialogue and innovation led by young people themselves.
