Foreign Minister meets Syrian Foreign Minister and Expatriates

New York, Sep. 26 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Faisal Mekdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic, at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
The meeting reviewed the historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Syrian Arab Republic and the progress of their cooperation at various levels. Both sides discussed means to further strengthen ties across multiple domains to serve the common interests of the two countries and peoples.
The discussions also addressed the efforts of the Syrian leadership to enhance security and stability in Syria, preserve its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and realise the aspirations of the Syrian people for peace, development, and prosperity. In addition, the meeting addressed the continuation of coordination and joint consultation on developments at the regional and international levels.
Jamal Fares Al Ruwaiei, Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, and Khaled Yousef Al Jalahma, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, attended.
