Foreign Minister meets UN General Assembly President

New York, Sep. 26 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Annalena Baerbock, President of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, at the UN headquarters in New York.


 

Dr. Al Zayani conveyed the greetings and congratulations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the President of the General Assembly on her assumption of the presidency of the current session, wishing her success in carrying out her responsibilities.


 

The Minister commended the constructive role of the General Assembly in strengthening international cooperation and addressing global issues, emphasising the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to enhance cooperation and coordination with the United Nations and its agencies across various domains in pursuit of international peace, stability, and sustainable development.


 

The President of the General Assembly extended her congratulations to the Kingdom of Bahrain on its election as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, wishing it success in fulfilling the diplomatic and political responsibilities of the membership.


 

The meeting discussed key items on the agenda of the General Assembly, areas of bilateral cooperation, and regional and international developments of common interest.


 

Jamal Fares Al Ruwaiei, Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York; Saeed Abdulkhaliq, Head of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ali Khalid Al Araifi, Head of Al Madar Centre; and the accompanying delegation attended the meeting.
