Man Arrested for Animal Cruelty, Slaughtering Dog for Food

RAYONG, Oct 7 (TNA) - Thai police have arrested a 47-year-old man in Rayong province after neighbours reported he was slaughtering and butchering stray dogs to be cooked as a side dish for drinking.
Officers apprehended the suspect, identified as Mr. Phet, following complaints and video evidence submitted by local residents.
Police found compelling evidence at the man’s rental property, including the carcasses of two female dogs lying next to an outdoor fire. One dog had already been skinned and butchered, with its hide and a cleaver found nearby. The suspect, who appeared intoxicated, initially resisted arrest and denied the accusations.
Neighbours told police that Mr. Phet, a factory welder originally from Sakon Nakhon, frequently drank with friends and routinely used stray dogs from the area as a snack, butchering them openly despite the visible distress of community members.
Police have charged Mr. Phet with animal cruelty under Thai law. Authorities instructed local residents to help bury the remains of the two dogs. - 819 (TNA)
