Lisa Named 'Amazing Thailand Ambassador' for 2026 Tourism Campaign

BANGKOK, OCt 16 (TNA) - Thailand's Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has named Thai global pop sensation Lalisa "Lisa" Manobal, a member of the K-pop group Blackpink, as its "Amazing Thailand Ambassador" to spearhead the country's tourism promotion efforts throughout 2026.
Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the TAT, said the collaboration marked a significant step in showcasing Thailand’s charm, diversity, and wonder through a new lens for both domestic and international tourists.
"Working with Lisa as our Amazing Thailand Ambassador reaffirms to the world that Thailand is a safe, quality destination ready to warmly welcome visitors," Ms. Thapanee said. "Lisa will help reflect Thailand's image as a high-quality, leading travel destination, inspiring people to create memorable journeys here."
The TAT selected the singer, who has over 100 million followers on Instagram, due to her global appeal and impact, which officials believe is necessary for a major campaign to boost Thai tourism.
The one-year ambassadorship runs from September 29, 2025, to September 29, 2026.
The TAT projects the campaign will yield substantial economic benefits. Officials anticipate the collaboration will generate no less than 1 billion online engagements about Thai tourism over the contract period.
From this massive awareness, the agency estimates that 10% of those interested—around 100 million people—may be inspired to visit Thailand, potentially translating into an additional 5-10 million actual tourist arrivals in 2026, which the TAT would consider a success.
Filming for the official promotional video featuring Lisa is scheduled for late this year, with an official public launch slated for late January 2026. The campaign will focus on presenting a comprehensive, overall view of Thailand rather than highlighting any single location. -819 (TNA)
