The FM Emphasizes the Important Role of British Companies in Supporting the Economic Reconstruction Process in Iraq

Baghdad / NINA /-Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein affirmed the important role British companies can play in supporting Iraq’s economic reconstruction, given their advanced expertise and technologies that the Iraqi economy needs at this stage.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Minister’s media office, Hussein received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, and discussed with him bilateral relations between Baghdad and London and ways to enhance them in various fields, in addition to reviewing prospects for coordination on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The statement added that the two sides also discussed the challenges facing some British companies operating in Iraq and explored possible measures to overcome them in order to strengthen their presence in the Iraqi market.
For his part, the British Ambassador expressed his country’s appreciation for the Iraqi government’s cooperation and understanding of the challenges facing British companies, reaffirming the United Kingdom’s desire to expand areas of economic and investment cooperation with Iraq.
The statement concluded that the meeting also included an exchange of views on regional developments and an assessment of the electoral process in Iraq, during which both sides commended the peaceful and positive conduct of the elections./ End
