105-Year-Old Thai Athlete Heads to Asian Masters in India

SAMUT PRAKAN, Nov 4 (TNA) -A 50-strong delegation of Thai senior athletes, spearheaded by 105-year-old four-time Asian champion Sawang Channuek, has departed for India to compete in the 23rd Asia Masters Athletics Championships.
The championships are scheduled to run from November 5 to 11. Sawang Channuek, the oldest competitor in the tournament, having secured four gold medals at the previous Asian Championships.
Dr. Viwat Wikrantnoras, who is leading the team and serves as Honorary President of the Thai Masters Athletics Association and President of the Asia Masters Athletics Federation, said the championships are widely recognized across the region and have become a social innovation used by many countries to develop quality of life and strengthen social cohesion.
During the last championships, the Thai squad delivered a strong performance, clinching 29 gold medals. Dr. Viwat expressed high expectations for the current team.
"We anticipate that we will achieve a performance as good as the last one," he added.
The competition promotes active aging and serves as an inspiration for senior citizens across Asia.
