Iraq Praises the EU's Participation in Monitoring the Elections and Affirms Its Pride in the Growing Partnership Between the Two Sides

Baghdad / NINA /- Iraq has praised the European Union’s participation in monitoring the parliamentary elections, reaffirming its appreciation for the growing partnership between the two sides.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its gratitude to the European Union for the statement it issued regarding the parliamentary elections held on 11 November 2025, noting the EU’s commendation of the Iraqi people’s exercise of their democratic right and its clear support for political stability and the strengthening of constitutional institutions in the country.

The ministry also highlighted the EU’s recognition of the efforts made by the relevant Iraqi authorities, foremost among them the Independent High Electoral Commission, government bodies supporting the process, and civil society organizations, all of which collectively contributed to organizing a successful and transparent electoral process.

The statement further commended the EU’s participation through the electoral expert mission it deployed in response to an invitation from the Independent High Electoral Commission, and its role in assessing the conduct of the electoral process.

The ministry concluded by affirming the Republic of Iraq’s pride in its growing partnership with the European Union and the EU’s supportive stance on Iraq’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. It stressed Iraq’s keenness to continue joint cooperation in a way that serves mutual interests and enhances security, stability, and development in Iraq and the region./ End
