VII International Film Forum of women directors held in Osh

Bishkek, Dec. 5, 2025. /Kabar/. Dinara Kemelova, Special Presidential Representative for the Implementation of the Five-Year Action Plan for the Development of Mountain Regions, participated in the 7th International Film Forum of Women Directors, "Mountains. Ecology, Women in Film – A Vision That Changes the Future," held December 2-5 in Osh.

According to the presidential administration, the event is being held as part of the Five-Year Action Plan for the Development of Mountain Regions and begins a decade of events commemorating International Mountain Day. The film forum emphasizes the importance of environmental and educational agendas, focusing on the relationship between climate, youth, and mountain regions.

Opening the event, Special Presidential Representative Dinara Kemelova thanked the organizers and the founder of the film forum, Asel Dzhuraeva, emphasizing that the International Film Forum calls for a shared responsibility for preserving mountain ecosystems as sources of life, water, energy, and inspiration.

She emphasized that mountains, like female directors, embody resilience, inner strength, and beauty, and the film forum itself creates a space where women's voices in art resonate confidently and sincerely, uniting art, culture, and environmental issues.

During the panel session, the special representative also presented the Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions, initiated by President Sadyr Zhaparov.

This year, the film forum includes two main categories: "Women's Lens" and "Environmental and Social Activism," which include 25 films by female directors from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.

For the first time in the history of the film forum, a separate environmental section has been included, reflecting the growing attention to sustainable mountain development, climate challenges, and the role of women in environmental protection. The films presented explore pressing social issues: the situation of women and children, the problems of children with disabilities, and issues of humanism and environmental protection.
