Dong-A Pharma mulls new factory to raise output

SEOUL, Jan 14 (Yonhap) -- Dong-A Pharmaceutical Co., a South Korean drugmaker, is
considering building a new plant in the second half of the year to increase its
production capacity, industry sources said Thursday.
The drugmaker now has three factories across the nation, and construction of its
new research and development center is scheduled to be completed this year.
"Details on the new plant have yet to be decided... we may begin to break ground
during the second half of this year after drawing up plans," said a company
official.
The company said earlier it would spend 700 billion won (US$62.3 million) on the
research center.
The drugmaker is estimated to have posted sales of over 800 billion won last year.
