MAGNITUDE 6.2 QUAKE HITS PAPUA

Bengkulu, Jan 14 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale and with the potential of causing a tsunami hit West Papua on Thursday at 00.18 western Indonesia standard time (WIB).

According to the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the temblor had its epicenter at 0,83 degrees southern longitude and 133,36 degrees eastern latitude or about 78 kilometers northwest Manokwari, West Papua, at a depth of 26 kilometers below sea level.
