IMF to hold Asia conference in S. Korea this summer

SEOUL, Jan. 15 (Yonhap) -- The International Monetary Fund said Friday that it
has decided to hold its Asia conference in South Korea this summer, providing a
chance for participants to discuss diverse economic issues facing the region.

The conference will kick off on July 12 for a two-day run in Seoul with around
300 participants including policymakers, renowned business people and professors
who will exchange opinions on economic dynamism and the advance of Asian
countries, the organization said in a statement carried on its official Website.
"Asia is at an important crossroads," IMF Managing Director Dominique
Strauss-Kahn said in a statement. "In a post-crisis world, Asia is well
positioned to build on its strong macroeconomic track record and engage
prominently in the debate on policy challenges facing the global economy."
He added that the conference to be held in Seoul will present "a significant
opportunity for all key players to share their insights on the challenges and
opportunities facing Asia and the global economy in the next decade."
