Hyundai Motor targets 52 pct of home turf

SEOUL, Jan. 15 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest automaker,
said Friday it aims to capture a 52 percent of the domestic market this year,
compared with 50.7 percent last year.

In a statement, Hyundai Motor Vice Chairman Chung Eui-sun said the South Korean
auto market will have "very different conditions" from last year due to
competition with Japanese rivals and a free trade agreement with the European
Union, along with another with the United States that is still pending.
Last year, Hyundai's global sales rose more than 10 percent from a year earlier
to 3.1 million units, Chung said in the statement.
