Chronology of events leading to S. Korean consortium-Jordan reactor deal


SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Yonhap) -- The following is a chronology of the events related to
a deal between a South Korean consortium with Jordan to build the first atomic
research reactor in the Middle Eastern country.


The consortium consists of the
state-run Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) and Daewoo Engineering
and Construction Co.

Feb. 9, 2009 -- South Korea receives a request for proposals (RFP) from the
Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) to take part in an open bid for the
project.

May 17, 2009 -- The consortium submits its proposal on the project to Jordan.

July 27-28, 2009 -- The consortium holds a meeting to explain South Korea's
indigenous reactor to Jordanian officials in Anman.

Sept. 29-30, 2009 -- A joint delegation of South Korean government officials and
the consortium visits Jordan to meet their counterparts.

Nov. 8-12, 2009 -- A Jordanian technical delegation visits South Korea to examine
an operational research reactor.

Dec. 4, 2009 -- The consortium is chosen as the priority negotiating partner by
JAEC.

Jan. 10, 2010 -- JAEC picks the South Korean consortium as the builder for its
research reactor and signs a letter of acceptance on the deal.
