Lotte Group to invest 4.5 tln won this year

SEOUL, Jan. 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korean retail giant Lotte Group said Friday it
plans to invest 4.5 trillion won (US$4 billion) this year, up 50 percent from
2009, on a range of projects including the construction of a skyscraper.

Lotte Group will also increase its new employment by 10 percent on-year, hiring
8,500 recruits including 1,000 interns, the group said in a statement. The group
recruited 7,700 employees incluing 900 interns in 2009.
The group seeks to build a 555-meter-high skyscraper next to its Lotte World
amusement park in southeastern Seoul.
Combined sales of Lotte Group affiliates were tallied at 45 trillion won in 2009,
up 8 percent on-year, the group said.
Lotte will also join in the development of the newly planned Sejong City, located
about 150 kilometers south of Seoul, spending 100 billion won and creating 1,000
new jobs by 2020.
