IR trains CSOs on strategic planning
SANA'A, Jan. 16 (Saba) - Some 26 participants
from different civil society organizations CSOs took part on Saturday in a
training course
over strategic planning for management.
The course was organized by Islamic Relief (IR) within program of the development
cooperation project which aims at improving capacities of the civil society
organizations.
In the opening session of the course, the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs and
Labor Ali Saleh Abdullah said that 7,000 civil society organizations are working in
Yemen,
and just 25 percent of these organizations are active because they lack for
management skills.
He said that the government considered these organizations as partner of the
development process, wishing success for the course.
For his part, the ambassador of the European Union to Yemen Michele Cevrone d' Urso
said that EU raised its support for the organizations in Yemen from €2 million to €
2.5
million, pointing out to the important role of the civil society organizations to
develop the country.
Khaled al-Moalad, resident representative of Islamic Relief in Yemen affirmed
importance of the coordination between the organizations and the local societies to
present
humanitarian assistance.
He added that the course comes within two-year training program of the organization
funded by the EU in order to improve capacities of these organizations.
