IDRUS : NO PLAN YET TO SUMMON PRESIDENT
Jakarta, Jan 17 (ANTARA) - The chief of the House Century Bank Inquiry Committee, Idrus Marham, said the committee had no plan yet for summoning President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in connection with the case of Century Bank bailout.
"We have no data yet," he said here on Saturday evening after attending a soft launching of a campaign for Maman Abdurrahman as the chairman of AMPI (Indonesian Reform Generation).
He made the statement in reply to a newsman who asked about calls from various quarters for the summoning of President Yudhoyono to clarify the problem.
He said the committee would soon discuss various data and information from officials or former officials that had testified before the committee so far regarding the case.
The officials include former vice president Jusuf Kalla, former central bank governor Boediono (now vice president), former and now also finance minister Sri Mulyani.
"Only after an internal meeting would we be able to decide if President Yudhoyono need to be summoned or not," he said.
He said officials who still had yet to be summoned are those involved in the decision making for the merger of Pikko, Danpac and CIC banks to become Century Bank.
From them it is expected the initial process of the Century Bank establishment could be unveiled that led to the decision to bailout the bank with Rp6.7 trillion worth of state funds, he said.
When asked about the confusion of data presented by the witnesses Idrus said the committee would immediately confront those officials to confirm the data.
"May be it will be done in the first week of Februar," he said.
About the behaviour of several committee members shown during the committee's hearings so far that had been considered by various parties bad Idrus said referring to the dispute between Gayuus Lumbuun from the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP) and Ruhut Sitompul from the Democrat Party that "the two have apologized to each other and we hope it will not happen again."
The two during the hearing exchanged strong words, drawing concern from various parties.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono through communications minister Tifatul Sembiring had also expressed his concern over the behaviour of several committee members.
Idrus however said committee members made "unusual statements" because among others witnesses often said "I do not know" or "I forget."
He also said that committee members could interrupt witnesses because the meeting was different from the common hearing.
