FLOODS HIT COASTAL VILLAGES IN KARAWANG
Karawang, W Java, Indonesia, Jan 17 (ANTARA) - Floods hit a number of coastal villages in Karawang district, West Java, on Sunday following high rainfalls in the past few days.
The flood-affected villages included Tambaksumur and Kutamakmur.
Floods began inundating homes at the villages at 01.00 p.m. on Sunday, prompting residents to remove their belongings to higher grounds, Didin, a resident of Kutamakmur village, said.
The water level in the worst-hit areas reached an average height of 50 cm, an ANTARA journalist observed.
The floods also inundated rice fields and several segments of roads.***
