KOICA dedicates antiquities info management system in Egypt
CAIRO, Jan. 18 (Yonhap) -- A South Korean agency dedicated here Monday an on-line
information system it helped create that will register and manage artifacts
across Egypt
The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) held a ceremony at the Supreme
Council of Antiquities in Cairo to celebrate the launch of the system, called
"CMIS."
A number of Egyptian and South Korean dignitaries attended the event, including
the council's Secretary General Zahi Hawass, South Korean Ambassador to Egypt
Yoon Jong-kon and the agency's representative to Egypt, Lee Jae-ung.
KOICA provided US$2 million to build the system, which began development in
November 2007, and invited some 10 Egyptian officials to South Korea to train
them on the management of the system.
