GTZ grants Yemen € 7 mln for food security program
SANA'A, Jan. 18 (Saba) - Yemen and German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) signed here on Monday a supportive agreement of € 7 million for sustainable food security program in Yemen.
Under the agreement, German government, represented by the GTZ, grants Yemen € 7
million allocated for sustainable food security program for three years.
The agreement also is stipulated that the Germen government supports Yemen's
policies in areas of food security and promoting agricultural productivity in the
typical regions
in addition to support the government's policies to fight Qat planting in order to
reduce steady depletion of water resources, which reached 40 percent of the total
water
use.
The agreement was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi and the
GTZ's Country
Director Thomas Engelhardt.
Al-Arhabi hailed the GTZ contribution in supporting development process in Yemen,
adding that Yemen is keen to go on for developing the security food national
strategy.
