EU discusses policies on Yemen

STRASBOURG, Jan. 19 (Saba) - In its monthly session
in the French city of Strasbourg, the European Parliament will discuss today EU's
policies
on Yemen, including those towards supporting the country to face its security and
economic challenges.
A parliament official quoted by Saudi News Agency said that Catherine Ashton, High
Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, will deliver a
statement
in the session and answer questions on the EU stance over the current situation in
Yemen.
She will also underline ways to support Yemen as the EU plans a package of measures
on the current situation that would be underlined in a British-hosted conference
later
this month that will focus on supporting Yemen to face its problems.
Meanwhile, the European Union has reiterated full support for Yemen's unity and
sovereignty, with Spain holding the bloc's rotating presidency saying: doubtless we
support
Yemen and President Saleh's dialog call.
The EU is ready to support efforts aimed at helping Yemen overcome its problems,
said Spain's Foreign minister Miguel Angel Moratinos.
In an interview with the UAE Al Bayan Newspaper, he affirmed that the bloc is also
ready to work with regional countries, specifically with the United Arab Emirates,
to
help Yemen.
